Talk dirty

Dear urvashi,

49,692 people including you have asked Airtel to switch to renewable energy, but they have not responded yet. At the moment Greenpeace activists are literally spelling out the message for them. They are painting ‘Switch off Diesel’ across the company’s head-office in Gurgaon.

The telecom sector including Airtel uses climate change-causing diesel to power its mobile towers. The activists are painting the message across the company's office to help put more pressure on Airtel to take action. You can help this effort by getting more and more signatures on this petition.

Can you forward the mail below to your friends and family, asking them to sign this petition?

Thanks a billion!

Abhishek Pratap,
Climate and energy campaigner

Dear friends,

Amazing! 49,692 people have asked Airtel to stop using environmentally unfriendly diesel to power lakhs of mobile towers.[1] Airtel has not responded, so at the moment Greenpeace activists are painting the message on the company’s head-office in Gurgaon.
Click here to ask Airtel to switch to renewable energy

The telecom sector uses subsidised diesel, which leads to a loss of Rs 2600 crore to the government.[2] Being the market leader, Airtel enjoys the biggest portion of this subsidised diesel. Airtel’s switch to renewable energy will make a big difference and set an example for others in the sector.

The activists are painting the message across the company's office to help put more pressure on them. We can help their attempt by adding more and more signatures to the petition. We need to tell Airtel that it can’t ignore demands made by their current and future users like this.

You should add your signature asking Airtel to switch to renewable energy.

http://www.greenpeace.org/india/en/What-We-Do/Stop-Climate-Change/Green-Electronics/switch-off-diesel/ask-airtel-switch-off-diesel/

‘Switch off Diesel’
painted right across their office and a growing number of petitions will help increase pressure on Airtel to act. As service providers, they will find it difficult to ignore so many mobile consumers asking them to switch to renewable energy.

Oil, like coal and nuclear, is an unsustainable energy resource. The Deepwater Horizon oil spill last year revealed the dangers of our addiction to oil.[3]

Recent research done by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has shown that renewable energy has the potential to power the world.[4] Airtel needs to realise this and lead the energy revolution. Tell them now.

Thanks a billion!

Dear Hindu Brother's and Sister's,

Caste wars amoung Christians in India is escalating day by day. Each passing day situation is going more and more out of control. In the lattest incident, on Saturday, 28th May, 2011 Christians belonging to one caste burnt down a Church under construction by another caste.

But more important is that this incident happened in a state where Christaians forms 90% of the population.

The Catholic Church under construction and nearing to completion in  Phokhungri (Pki) Village, in Nagaland was burnt down by the Phokhungri villagers at around 2.30 pm on Saturday, May 28.

At the time of writing this message appex body of Christians in India, Catholic Bishops Council of India, which always issues statements on every Church burnings, not commented on this Church burning.

Photo of the Church which was burnt down in Christian caste war is attached.

[rtitimes] Apppeal to Swami Ramddevji :SC itself made CJI and Other Judges accountable before law by its Judgement, in which Justice J.S. Verma given his dessent Judgment

Respected Swami Ramdevji,

Since you have no practical eexperinces, aand since wrong advise might have been forwarded that CJI should be covered within the ambit of Lokpal. For your kind information, I am citing an very important Majority Judgment pronounced by the Constitutional Bench of Supreme Court in the matter of K. Veeraswami Vs. UOI AND OTHERS, through Judgment dated25/07/1991, taken a detailed view (Citation:- 1991( 3  )SCR 189, 1991( 3  )SCC 655, 1991( 2  )SCALE150 , 1991( 3  )JT 198), and made CJI and other Judges of Supreme Court and High Courts accountable before law, after defined them as Public Servant, after examining the following important issues. However, Justice J. S. Verma is known for his desent judgment in the aforesaid judgment, therefore if he is opposing to include CJI under the ambit of Lokpal, it is obvious in view of his aforesaid desent Judgment:-

Prevention of  Corruption Act, 1947:  Ss. 2,  5(1)(e), 5(2),  6(1)(c)- Public servant --Possession of  pecuniary resources or  property disproportionate to known sources of income----Prosecution  after  superannuation-Previous  sanction -- Whether necessary.

Independence of Judiciary--Whether affected by  application  of the Prevention of Corruption Act to Judges of    High Court/Supreme Court--Issuance of guidelines by Court.

Indian  Penal Code, 1860: Ss.  19, 21--"Judge"--Whether includes  a High Court/Supreme Court Judge--Whether  'public servant' under s. 2 of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Constitution of India, 1950: Articles 74, 79, 121, 211, 124,  217, 2 18--Provision for initiation of proceeding for removal of a Judge-Whether a ground for withholding criminal prosecution of a Judge for offence under s. 5(1) (e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.

Independence  of Judiciary----Effect of  application  of Prevention  of   Corruption Act, ]947 to Judges   of  superior Courts.

    Code  of  Criminal Procedure, 1973:  Ss.  154,  173(2), 173(5)-Offence committed by public servant under s.  5(1)(e) of  the Prevention of Corruption Act,      1947--Complaint regarding--Investigation   Requirements--Police   report/Charge sheet--Contents of 190

Evidence  Act, 1872: S. 106--Offence committed under  s. 5(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947--Possession of property  disproportionate  to known  sources--Whether fact within special knowledge of the public servant--Burden  of proof----On whom.

Words and Phrases.' "satisfactorily account"--Meaning of.

Statutory  Interpretation:  Rule  of  ejusdem generis--Explained.

That unless, the persons themselves holding the Offices of the President, Prime Minister and CJI themselves are responsible to protect the dignity of such offices.  Therefore, this is my humble appeal you should not oppose the inclusion of PM and CJI under ambit of Lokpal.

Rights Vs. Responsibility

Paul the Apostle wrote, "We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: 'If a man will not work, he shall not eat.'"1

Recently, when watching an interview on TV, I found it sickening to see the following reasoning: An individual who was being interviewed—who happened to be an illegal immigrant—was asked why she was here, and why she didn't want to work. Her answer was that she had a right to be here, and a right to be taken care of, her "justification" being that because God had blessed the U.S.A., it was the will of Jesus that she live here and be taken care of. In her thinking it was owing to her. She was obviously a member of the "entitlement society" as she was an able-bodied woman and quite capable of working, and quite capable of applying for a permit to be in the country legally.

Certainly I believe that people who are genuinely unable to take care of themselves because of a serious disability, need to be cared for. But to take care of people who are capable of working and taking care of themselves, is a case of irresponsible codependency. Whether this is at an individual or a national level makes no difference, it is a gross form of irresponsibility both on the part of the care-giver and the care-receiver. The one is as sick as the other. To take care of people who can take care of themselves reinforces their irresponsibility and keeps them sickeningly over-dependent and immature.

By way of interest, God will bend the heavens to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves–that's why he sent Jesus, his Son, to die in our place on the cross to save us from the lethal consequences of our sins—but he will not do for us what we are able to do for ourselves.

Yes, people have right "rights" but not wrong "rights" in that they do not have the right to be irresponsible and live off other peoples' hard work and efforts when they are capable of taking care of themselves. As today's Scripture says, "'If a man will not work, he shall not eat." It is tragic that too many leaders don't get it, as it appears that they are more interested in getting votes than they are in the lasting welfare of both individuals and society at large.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me to always see what my responsibilities are, accept them, and do what I need to do—always in all ways. And deliver me from the sin of using 'my so called rights' as an excuse to justify my avoidance of personal responsibility. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."

1. 2 Thessalonians 3:7-10 (NIV).
