Dear Colleague
It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the 1st International Conference of Psychology, organized by the Department of Psychology, University of Peshawar in collaboration with HEC’s sub-committee on Psychology, will be held at BARA GALI SUMM ER CAMPUS (ABBOTTABAD) from October 01-02, 2011. Our programme will include a two-day conference on Emerging Issues and Psychological Interventions: A Pakistani Perspective. You are requested to write papers on theoretical aspects of war on terror, natural and man-made disasters’ effects and psychological interventions e.g. Trauma and its management. This letter will be followed by our detailed programme, if you register on time. The Organizing Committee invites you to the event. Keeping in view the theme of the conference and your expertise in the field, you are requested to present a paper.
We will be accommodating about 150 participants. Keeping in view limited accommodation at Bara Gali, it will be easy for us to accommodate you if you give us your consent at your earliest. Registration for everybody coming to the camp is a must. Please do not come uninformed and also intimate about your mode of arrival or we would not be able to accommodate you. Please do not bring any extra persons (guests) with you (without taking an advanced approval) as it will be difficult for us to accommodate them. If you are planning to bring your own car, there is very limited accommodation available for drivers and they have to pay mess charges as it is being managed by the university administration. Boarding, lodging (including beds), and food (as per pre-set menu) at Bara Gali will be served free of cost. Accommodation will be shared and please don’t expect a high quality accommodation from us as Bara Gali is a hill station (camp). We will provide you with used beds as well. Bring a blanket if you can. Daily excursions to Nathia Gali and/or Ayyubia will be part of the programme. Please bring warm clothes (sweaters, jackets, joggers, and a cap), a torch, and also an umbrella), as the temperature will vary from 10 to 25 degree Celsius. Its really chilly at night and/or when it rains. Transport (a bus) from Department of Psychology, University of Peshawar to Bara Gali and back to Peshawar (via Abbottabad) would be provided free of cost. We will start our journey from Peshawar to Bara Gali on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 around 8:00 am from our Department in Peshawar and will reach Hasan Abdal (Silver Spoon) around 11:00 am for a brief stay and will pick up any participants. We will also be staying for a while in Abbottabad (near Royal Hotel) around 1:00 pm . If you want to be picked up from one of these 2 spots, please inform us. If you want to join us in Peshawar , let us know in advance. Personal transportation will not be provided. We will return to Peshawar (via Abbottabad) on Monday, October. 3, 2011 at 9:30 am.
Pre-conference non-refundable advanced registration is necessary on or before Sept 15, 2011 (no exceptions and no on-the-spot deposits). Please send your Registration fee (Rs. 4000/- foreign delegates US $ 100/-) to the Department of Psychology, University of Peshawar only through Money Order or deposit it in person (there is no students’ concession available). We shall highly appreciate it if your institution sponsors you. After Sept. 15, registration fee will be Rs. 5000/-. Please confirm your seat in Bara Gali from us and do not come uninformed as it would be difficult for us to accommodate extra guests, if any.
