Let us all rededicate ourselves to build a better India

Hello urvashi,

I am sorry for the delay in writing to you on my return to India. I don't want to cite pressure of work and paucity of time as excuses for my failure.

I must tell you that I relished every minute of my interaction with you.

Although you live thousands of miles away from the motherland, you have been following developments in Andhra Pradesh and Lok Satta Party activities with great enthusiasm and keenness.

The barrage of questions you fired at me from the day of arrival till the day of departure and your well-intentioned critiques of the party once again taught me that an aspiring leader has to be humble, patient, knowledgeable and communicative.

Before my US visit, I wondered what purpose a Dandi March II by NRIs in the US would serve. After meeting you and seeing for myself the meteoric rise of the PFL among NRIs, I realized I was wrong in my assessment of the Dandi March.

Our responsibilities in Andhra Pradesh have grown in the wake of the national movement for a strong and independent Lokpal to combat corruption. As you are aware, we are fighting for constitution of Lokayuktas in States and ombudsmen in districts as part of the Lokpal Bill.

No one can stop an idea whose time has come, as a popular saying goes. The Lok Satta has been waging a battle on many fronts to eradicate corruption. Institution of mechanisms to tackle corruption is only the first step. As you know, corruption cannot be eradicated so long as there are no electoral reforms, decentralization of power, and an end to the licence-permit raj and discretionary powers of politicians and bureaucrats in allocation of scarce resources.

Let us all rededicate ourselves to build a better India through strengthening the party.

With Regards,
Katari Srinivasa Rao
