Amidst the rising citizen fervor against corruption, the bigger question is What Next? In an attempt to answer this, ipaidabribe.com launched STRAIGHT TALK: Candour on Corruption. A series of candid discussions on Life After Lokpal.
In the kick-off episode ipaidabribe.com invited eminent people from the media and development specialists. Our panelists included Justice Santosh Hegde( Former Karnataka Lokayukta), E Raghavan ( Consulting Editor, Vijay Karnataka), Neena Gopal ( Editor, Deccan Chronicle) Anil Padmanabhan ( Chief of Bureau, MINT) and Nikhil Dey ( MKSS, Member NCPRI). The discussion was moderated by Ramesh Ramanathan ( Co Founder, Janaagraha). The three critical points of discussion were:
- Is the Lokpal Bill the silver bullet to rid India of corruption?
- Does the Lokpal Bill safeguard the federal structure in the Constitution?
- Do mass movements need to connect with mainstream politics?
