YAISHWARYAJ: Ten days ToT programme

Dear Friends,

Ten days ToT programme is designed by HANDS in the collaboration of Basicneeds international in the Karachi 26^th Sept to 5^th Oct 2011 – Karachi , for those who have a commitment to developing their knowledge and skills in the field of psychosocial care for disaster affected communities and to implement the BasicNeeds model in communities which they work. The programme is recommended for:

· Community development practitioners or field workers

· Coordinators and Mangers of disaster management, reconstruction or livelihood projects

· Professionals involved in psychosocial care for specific groups

· Individuals who wish to develop the skills to become involved in community mental health and development programmes.

Participants are most likely to be active in:

· Organisations working with marginalised communities

· Disaster management programmes with involvement in mental health issues.

· Training organisations involved in psychosocial care or related activities

· Community organisations based in locations that are vulnerable to disasters.

We are particularly interested in attracting people with authority to implement psychosocial care programmes, those with previous experience in community development projects and professionals with a capacity to train others. Fluency in English is important.

Outcomes of the initial ten-day ToT programme

By the end of the programme the participants will:

Have the confidence to design, develop and implement psychosocial care programmes with communities affected by disasters
Be equipped with animation skills and techniques for delivering psychosocial care to disaster affected communities
Prepare an action plan for providing psychosocial care to disaster affected communities
Have a thorough knowledge for implementing the development-oriented psychosocial care model
