प्रवासी भारतीय होते शिकार, मीडिया और प्रशासन खामोश
न्यू जर्सी: प्रवासी भारतीयों को इंसाफ़ दिलाने के लिए ख़बर24 की मुहिम:- अमेरिका में अल्पसंख्यक वर्गों के साथ लगातार जाति के नाम पर अति दयनीय व्यवहार हो रहा है।इसका ताजा उदाहरण है हिंदू अल्पसंख्यक वर्ग के 20 वर्षीय धारून रवि को जबरन समलैंगिक के खिलाफ नस्लीय पूर्वाग्रह के लिए दोषी साबित करना। सबसे चौंकाने वाली बात ये है कि अगर रवि एक यहूदी या एक ईसाई होता, तो उसके साथ व्यवहार में ज़मीन आसमान का अंतर होता या शायद उसके हकीकत में दोषी पाए जाने के बाद भी उसे बेगुनाह साबित कर दिया जाता। रवि ने अपने जीवन में समलैंगिको के खिलाफ कभी भी कोई भी अभद्र टिप्पणी नहीं की है। ये बात सच है कि रवि ने अपने रूममेट पर एक हल्की छींटाकशी ज़रूर की थी लेकिन वह कोई अश्लील फ़ब्ती नहीं थी। उसे छींटाकशी के लिए सजा मिलना अन्याय नहीं होगा, किंतु समलैंगिको से नफ़रत का इल्ज़ाम लगा कर उसे सजा देना सरासर अन्याय है। न्यू जर्सी के राजनेताओं, राज्यपाल क्रिस्टी, न्यायपालिका, वकील और अन्य व्यक्तियों के समूह ने बड़ी चालाकी से साजिश रचकर रवि के खिलाफ़ माहौल बनाकर उसे अपराधी साबित कर दिया। जबकि इसी गवर्नर ने एक हिंदू वैज्ञानिक डॉ. दिव्येंदु सिन्हा की बढ़ी निर्मम हत्या के बाद जांच करवाने की भी ज़हमतनहीं उठाई। गौरतलब है कि डॉ. सिन्हा को नस्ली पूर्वाग्रह के तहत उनकी पत्नी और 2 किशोर बेटों के सामने अपने ही घर के बाहर बड़ी क्रूरता से 5 किशोरों ने मौत के घाट उतार दिया था। प्रशासन और मीडिया के द्वारा किसी भी तरह जांच तो दूर, उनके परिवार के लिए सहानुभूति तक नहीं जताई गई। बल्कि एक अर्ध आपराधिक अभियोजक ब्रूस कापलान पर हत्या की जांच में लीपापोती करने की आशंका है।
यहां तक की अभियोजक ने अन्य सदस्यों, समर्थकों और दोस्तों को बुलाकर बेखौफ़ होकर भारतीय समुदाय की निहत्थी महिलाओं, बच्चों और वरिष्ठ नागरिकों को तिलचट्टे, पशुओं, निरक्षरों की श्रेणी में बताया। उसने दुत्कारते हुए लहजे में कहा कि तुम हमारे देश से दफ़ा हो जाओ। दरअसल, ये लोग पुलिस की बर्बरता के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन कर रहे थे, जिसकी वजह से इन्हें अपमानित होना पड़ा। खैर ये कोई नई बात नहीं है जब अल्पसंख्यक वर्ग को वहां अपमान का कड़वा घूंट पीना पड़ा है
अमेरिका के 200 से अधिक वर्षों के इतिहास में एक अल्पसंख्यक जातीय समुदाय को न तो मुख्य धारा के मीडिया ने, ना न्यू जर्सी के अर्ध आपराधिक राजनेताओं ने, न ही मानवाधिकार संगठनों ने समानता की दृष्टि से देखा। समानता की आवाज़ उठाने वालों को समय-समय पर दबाने की पूरी कोशिश की जाती रही है।
जुलाई 2011 में इरविंगटन में भी दो भारतीयों को बड़ी क्रूरता से मार दिया गया। उनके शव की हालत हैरतअंगेज कर देने वाली और मानवता को शर्मसार कर देने वाली थे। दोनो के शरीर सिर से लेकर पैर तक एक- दूसरे से बंधे हुए पाए गए। जातीय पूर्वाग्रह के तहत ही एक को कान भेदकर मौत के घाट उतारा गया था, जबकि दूसरे के सिर में गोली मारकर। 30 चाकू के घाव से लथपथ शव रौंगटे खड़े कर देने वाले थे। इसके बावजूद मुख्यधारा की मीडिया, न्यू जर्सी के शासकों और नैतिक पुलिस ने इस हत्याकांड की ख़बर लेने की भी ज़रूरत महसूस नहीं की।
कुछ साल पहले डॉ. गीता अंगारे की भी न्यू जर्सी में बड़ी निर्ममता से हत्या कर दी गई थी। गीता एक हिंदू महिला थी, और पेशे से वैज्ञानिक थी। सबसे ज्यादा चौंकाने वाली बात यह थी कि उनकी हत्या एक अति सुरक्षा वाले जल उपचार संयंत्र में हुई, जहां सुरक्षा क्लीयरेंस टैग के बिना एक परिंदा भी पर नहीं मार सकता। हत्या का मकसद जाति का आधार ही बताया जा रहा है। हैरत की बात है कि इस घटना से मुख्य धारा की मीडिया और नैतिक पुलिस के कानो पर जूं तक नहीं रेंगी। न्यू जर्सी लगातार अल्पसंख्यको के लिए खतरे का शहर बनता जा रहा है। आए दिन हत्याएं और लूटपाट के किस्सों से दहशत का माहौल बन गया है। एक 12 वर्षीय हिंदू छात्र को यहूदियों और ईसाइयों के समान अधिकारों की मांग भारी पड़ गई। छात्र पर मुकदमा चलाए जाने पर भी मीडिया खामोश बैठी हैं। अभिजात वर्ग के शासकों, नैतिक पुलिस और न्यू जर्सी के अनैतिक दोहरे मापदंडों ने मुख्य धारा की मीडिया के साथ मिलकर पूर्वाग्रह और समलैंगिकों के प्रति नफरत के एक अधिनियम के अपराध के रूप में एक प्रतिभावान वायोलिन बजानेवाला को आत्महत्या के हवाले कर दिया।
यह एक खुला रहस्य है कि समलैंगिकता अमेरिका में मुख्यधारा बन गया है। प्राइम टाइम टीवी पर हर शो पर प्रसिद्ध लोगो द्वारा समलैंगिकता को बढ़ावा दिया जाता है। तो यह स्पष्ट रूप से इंगित करता है टायलर समस्या कुछ और बात थी जिसकी तरफ़ न्यायालय और मीडिया ने ध्यान नहीं दिया, बल्कि जानबूझ कर उसे समलैंगिक से नफ़रत के मामले में तब्दील कर दिया गया।
टायलर की आत्महत्या का कारण कुछ और भी हो सकता है। हो सकता है कि वह समलैंगिकता के साथ संघर्ष कर रहा था।
टायलर की आत्महत्या को केवल नफरत अपराध से जोड़कर देखना ही ठीक नहीं है। एक मानसिक रूप से अस्थिर आदमी अपने प्राण लेने का फैसला करता है तो इसे केवल एक छोटी खींचा शरारत से जोड़ना उचित नहीं है। रवि की छीटाकंशी मौली टायलर की मौत का कारण है, ऐसा साबित करना सरासर अन्याय है। रवि को तो मालूम भी नहीं होगा टायलर आत्महत्या के चरम कदम उठाने वाला होगा।
रवि को अपने साथी छात्र टायलर की आत्महत्या के लिए दोषी ठहराने का मामला हो, डॉ. सिन्हा की क्रूर हत्या का मामला हो या फ़िर गीता अंगेरा की निर्मम हत्या का मामला हो, न्यू जर्सी की पुलिस, शासक और मीडिया हाथ पर हाथ धरे बैठी है। जिससे वहां जीने वाले बेकसूर अल्पसंख्यको की दशा का अनुमान लगाना कोई मुश्किल काम नहीं है।
भारतीय मीडिया और सरकार भी प्रवासी भारतीयों की इस दिशा की काफ़ी हद तक जिम्मेदार है। जब भारतीय मीडिया और सरकार के हस्तक्षेप की वजह से इटली सरकार को भारतीय मछुआरों की हत्या के मामले में घुटने टेकने पड़े थे, फ़िर प्रवासी भारतीयों का न्यू जर्सी में जीना इतना दूभर क्यों है। क्यों वहां के लोग दिन दिहाड़े उन्हे मौत के घाट उतार देते हैं और कोई कुछ नहीं बोलता।
इस भीषण व्यवहार को रोकने के लिए उपयुक्त कदम उठाने में किसी तरह की देरी नहीं करनी चाहिए।

i signed it. thank you. the deliberate twisting of this case as a serious new jersey's "bias" law applicable issue, and the targeted rail-roading of the mischief-making indian college kid by the media and by the prosecution exposes the anti-hindu agenda of the power structure and the anti-hindu bias in the mainstream western society.
it is the mainstream system itself that has failed, and, this action of making an example of the 18-year old indian kid regarding anti-gay bias in the larger society is just a way to cover up for the biases, inadequacies, faults, wrong philosophies etc that has been inherent and hidden in the western system itself for a long time.
also, today's youth, hindu and non-hindu, are more accommodating and accepting of non-standard lifestyles than what the parents and adults may give them credit for. here, the bias seems to be more in the rest of society, and the eye of the onlooker, and, not in the two college room-mates who have both become victims because of the tragic impact of the society's biased opinions.
this case should not have been prosecuted in this way. "muddled" and faulty interpretations of law are often the result of biased thinking in the minds of people who seek to apply such laws in selective fashion to suit their own biases and agendas.

In 2010, Dharun Ravi, an 18 yearold Rutgers student, secretly recorded his roommate Tyler Clementi while he was with another man and posted it on the internet for everyone to see. For the next two years this is what the world was told by every media outlet, politician, activists worldwide and we accepted it as the truth. He was prejudged.
Two years later, we know none of this is true, nothing was ever recorded, nothing was broadcast over the internet. Yet Ravi was robbed of one of the most fundamental rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution: presumption of innocence. No one treated Ravi as though he was innocent until proven guilty.
The prosecutor's office has taken advantage of a faulty law that can prosecute any citizen for the thoughts of others along with misplaced political pressure from activist groups to convict Ravi on Bias charges, a law that even the judge admitted was muddled.
He now faces up to 20 years in jail. Every single witness testified unequivocally that Dharun Ravi had absolutely no hatred towards with gays/homosexuals, however the prosecution decided that he did, they decided what was in his mind despite all the evidence saying otherwise.
This is not the precedence we want to set.

In 2010, Dharun Ravi, an 18 yearold Rutgers student, secretly recorded his roommate Tyler Clementi while he was with another man and posted it on the internet for everyone to see. For the next two years this is what the world was told by every media outlet, politician, activists worldwide and we accepted it as the truth. He was prejudged.

My humble request to every sane person is pay attention to what the New Jersey justice system has done to a 20 yr old Dharun Ravi from minority Hindu community. If Ravi would have been a Jew or a Christian or a Mormon he would have been treated differently. Even being a Muslim he would have got a better treatment then being a Hindu. It is a dangerous precedent against minorities especially for Hindus in America set by anti-Hindu state New Jersey. Ravi has been found guilty for racial bias against Gays when in his whole life he has not uttered a single word or comment or statement against Gays. There is no doubt about it he has behaved like a jerk by looking at his roommate remotely but that does not make him a Gay hater. He should be punished for being a jerk not for being a Gay hater.
New Jersey's dumb politicians across the aisle especially big fraud Governor Christie, judiciary, attorney's and media have manipulated investigations to make sure Ravi to be punished for hate crimes. Christie in the lead was the first to make a statement that "I don't know how those two folks (Ravi & Molly) are going to sleep at night, knowing that they contributed to driving that young man to that alternative.'' This is the same Racist Governor who never bothered to react when a Hindu Scientist Dr. Divyendu Sinha was brutally murdered by 5 teenagers bare handedly out side his own home in front of his wife and 2 teenage sons under Racial Bias. No one in authorities or main stream media showed any sympathy for the family and till to date is prepared to call it a bias crime. Rather a quasi criminal prosecutor Bruce Kaplan himself being investigated for helping a colleague from law enforcement to cover up a murder is doing the investigations. This is the same prosecutor under his watch Edison Police union members, supporters, friends and spouse with immunity called "Indians are cockroaches, animals, illiterates and illegal go home" to a group of unarmed women, children, senior citizens and some adults from Hindu community demonstrating against Police Brutality to a fellow Hindu. These are the worst ever called racial slurs for a minority in over 200 years history of America still no out cry by main stream media or anti-Hindu politicians of New Jersey or so called human rights organizations promoting equality. This prosecutor is also credited for deporting a Hindu liquor store clerk Rajnikant Parikh by violating his civil and human rights, state & federal laws by spending over $250,000.00 of tax payers money. Mr. Parikh's crime was he has accused a white knuckle head Patrolman (Constable) of Police Brutality with excessive force under Racial Bias.
In July 2011 two Sikhs Satnam Singh and SP Singh were brutally murdered in Irvington and their bodies were found tied together head to toes not face to face apparently under racial bias. One person has his throat slit from one ear to other ear and other was shot in the head. There were 30 stab wounds apparently again under Racial Bias. There was no news from mainstream media or New Jersey rulers as well as moral police.
Few years ago a women Hindu Scientist Dr. Geetha Angare was murdered in a high security water treatment plant where a bird can not enter without a Security Clearance Tag again the motive was hate crime but no outcry by main stream media, ruling elites and moral police of New Jersey. The list goes on and on New Jersey is certainly a anti-minority state especially for Hindus with a hostile media against them that they are not shy even to terrorize and prosecute a 12 year old Hindu student out side the Court System who dared to demand equal rights with Jews and Christians of his town in a public meeting from Chris Christie the Governor of the state. He was falsely implicated that he has bullied a Jew student by adding "yah there is" to the statement of a Christian student that there was a special Bus for the Jew student to go home later. The Christian student who initiated the whole incident and made the actual comments according to the Rulers has not done bullying.
Ravi's trial was a witch hunt laced with pre planned hate-crime prosecution from day one by the authorities and the media. The prosecution put Ravi on trial not simply for his misdeeds but for who he is and what he believe. The prosecution has failed to show any evidence that proves Ravi to be a bigot or a homophobe. It has simply showed him to be an obnoxious 18-year-old. The jury was spoon fed by prosecution, politicians, moral police and media that whatever Ravi did he did it under hate for gays. Much of the prosecution's arguments against Ravi paint him as a homophobe and a bully because of his Hindu (by using the word South Asian) background.
Entire Hindu community has been labeled as homophobic as having cultural bias against gays by the media and encouraging their readers to paint the community as homophobic by substituting the word Indian or South Asians for Hindus. They can have benefit of doubt about their ignorance about Hinduism; but unfortunately they were joined by the Jai Chands, Rai Sahibs & Rai Bhadurs like Katyals, Jains and Baggas etc. who claim to be Hindus but ignorant about Hinduism. These morons do not understand that Unlike the West, the Hindu society does not have the concept of 'sexual orientation' that classifies males on the basis of who they desire. Hindus are more accepting of "deviance or eccentricity" than are adherents of Western religions, who typically treat sexual variance as "anti-social or psychopathological, requiring 'correction' or 'cure'". Hindus believe instead that each individual must full fill their personal destiny (svadharma) as they travel the path towards moksha (transcendence).
Hinduism regards Homosexuality as one of the possible expressions of human desire and Hindu mythic stories have portrayed homosexual experience as natural and joyful. There are several Hindu temples which have carvings that depict both men and women indulging in homosexual sex. Same-sex relations and gender variance have been represented within Hinduism from Vedic times through to the present day, in rituals, law books, religious or so-called mythical narratives, commentaries, paintings, and sculpture.
This is also true that homosexuality was illegal until 2009 in India, due to colonial British laws. On July 2, 2009 The Delhi High Court in a historic judgment de-criminalized homosexuality in India; where the court noted that the existing laws violated fundamental rights to personal liberty (Article 21 of the Indian Constitution) and equality (Article 14) and prohibition of discrimination (Article 15). Even before this judgment, in India homosexuals were very rarely prosecuted despite the existence of such laws in the penal code.
Elite Rulers and Moral Police of New Jersey long with main stream Media with unethical double standards under Hindu phobia have sold the tragic suicide by a young talented violinist as Bias Crime and an act of hatred towards homosexuals by Ravi. It is an open secret that homosexuality has become mainstream in America. Numerous shows on prime time TV promotes homosexuality with famous celebrities practically from all walks of life glorifying and endorsing it. That gives a sense of pride to every gay in America rather around the world for being gay. This clearly indicates Tyler's problem was something else that the Courts and Media has deliberately not addressed at all.
With due respect and all the forgiveness from the family painfully I have to say that any person who commits suicide most of the time they are mentally unstable. Considering Tyler committed suicide it is also possible despite homosexuality being promoted and endorsed on mainstream media by celebrities, he was still struggling with his homosexuality or may be something else was bothering him.
Tyler's suicide is not a case of bullying and certainly this is not a hate crime. This was a stupid prank pulled by Ravi and Molly on a mentally unstable young man who chose to take his own life on being exposed that he is gay or may be for some other reasons. However it is necessary to apply brains before pulling a prank because each student is different on how they react. Ravi and Molly should have known Tyler enough to realize the level of embarrassment it would cause. I do not think they knew that Tyler would take extreme step of committing suicide may be because of the embarrassment for being exposed or may be for some other reasons.
It is still a case of invasion of privacy in this age of face book and live video streaming of each and everything around us. How much privacy we can expect and how much invasion of privacy we can tolerate, that is the issue we would have to deal with for a better future. Let there be public debate on these issues to honor a lost young and brilliant life of Tyler Clementi rather than punishing Ravi under bias crimes.
This incident also has some parallels to Dr Sinha's brutal murder in Old Bridge by 5 High School students age 17-18 of his own town in front of his wife and 2 children. In this no group worth the name has given a call that Dr Sinha's senseless brutal murder be called a hate crime.
We all must do some soul searching what kind of education and upbringing we are providing to our children that can lead to the senseless and gruesome murder of Dr Sinha by 17-18 years old most probably under racial bias and 2 students 18 yrs old can be blamed for their fellow student Tyler's suicide for invading his privacy because he was not prepared to share his sexual orientation with the rest of the world or may be for some other reasons not known to us. May be Tyler was in need of psychiatric care that his own parents, friends and Rutgers failed to realize that he has suicidal tendencies.

In 2010, Dharun Ravi, an 18 yearold Rutgers student, secretly recorded his roommate Tyler Clementi while he was with another man and posted it on the internet for everyone to see. For the next two years this is what the world was told by every media outlet, politician, activists worldwide and we accepted it as the truth. He was prejudged.
Two years later, we know none of this is true, nothing was ever recorded, nothing was broadcast over the internet. Yet Ravi was robbed of one of the most fundamental rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution: presumption of innocence. No one treated Ravi as though he was innocent until proven guilty.
The prosecutor's office has taken advantage of a faulty law that can prosecute any citizen for the thoughts of others along with misplaced political pressure from activist groups to convict Ravi on Bias charges, a law that even the judge admitted was muddled.
He now faces up to 20 years in jail.
Every single witness testified unequivocally that Dharun Ravi had absolutely no hatred towards with gays/homosexuals, however the prosecution decided that he did, they decided what was in his mind despite all the evidence saying otherwise.
This is not the precedence we want to set.
Instead of drawing lines in the sand and taking sides, let's come together as people and prove that we can make tough decisions and show some compassion, understanding, and sympathy.
Please sign this if you believe that equality and tolerance should be achieved through honest, open communication and not through a vicious and vengeful prosecution that only serves to fuel tempers and alienate us even further.
