  • Experts: Health care law will aggravate primary care shortage
The Affordable Care Act will deepen the primary care shortage, and there is little the government or the health care sector can do to address the problem, some experts warn. The Association of American Medical Colleges estimates that the U.S. will be short 62,900 providers in 2015, and that number is expected to increase more than twofold by 2025. More clinics and a greater reliance on team care and nurses can help, according to Dr. Mark D. Smith, leader of the nonprofit California HealthCare Foundation.
