Will God Take Me Back? A Daily Encounter reader writes, "I was once close to God, at least I thought I was. I want to get back if God will take me back. I'm 64 years old and what have I really done for God? Unfortunately, it's not much of anything. I've lived in sin so long now, can God take me back? I want to, I really do want to. Please pray for me that God will give back the joy that I once knew. I want to go to be with the Lord when it's my time to go. Please help … I don't like living the way that I am."
Dear Joe (not his real name), it is a very wise action you have decided to take; that is, to turn back to God. Remember that God's Word says, "If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."1 Be sure to take God at his Word, believe what he says, and don't go by your feelings. The promise of God is that if you confess your sins and failures, God WILL FORGIVE YOU. Again, take this by faith and not your feelings.
