Congratulations! Airtel ready to embrace renewables.

Hi urvashi,

We did it! Finally Bharti Airtel is ready to move towards sustainable, renewable energy.

Over 200,000 people like you insisted that Bharti Airtel switches-off diesel from its telecom network towers. Thousands of you wrote emails to Bharti Airtel’s CEO Sunil Mittal with the same demand. Now, after two years working with them, Airtel’s ready to move towards this change for a better planet. [1]

Thank you! And here is a ‘we won’ message for you to share on Facebook and Twitter. Tell your friends how you made a difference.

Along with other campaigners, I met the Airtel top officials soon after they released the sustainability report. Airtel said that they will continue its dialogue with Greenpeace and also join the effort to push renewable energy as a viable option. They also agreed to announce their target to reduce emissions and increase renewable energy for the year 2020.

From Airtel ignoring us, to getting ready to work with us. You have made such a big difference in this journey. Long-term campaigns like these are made possible by the financial support received from individuals like you.

With this achievement, we can now look at getting more companies to move towards renewable energy. This way we will reduce our dependence on dirty energy, be it diesel or coal, which hurts our planet. Your support will make this achievable too.

Thanks!
