It’s about your food.

Hi urvashi,

Join hands with lakhs of people to prevent the creation of BRAI.

Our government wants to help foreign corporations, like Monsanto, dump genetically modified (GM) food on our plate. They want to create a Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India (BRAI) which will approve GM crops, without even considering your opinion or mine.

The BRAI bill proposes to set-up a body that will allow GM crops in our country, without checking their safety.[1] Genetic modification of crops is a dangerous technology, being opposed by countries all over the world.

Lakhs of people like you have been protesting against the BRAI bill.[2] This has helped in keeping the bill away for three years. But the threat of the bill getting tabled and cleared still lingers.

You can make this effort to save our food a big success. Join hands with lakhs of people, who have saved our food so far, to prevent the creation of BRAI.

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT

The BRAI bill was introduced, rather slyly, in the Budget session of Parliament in 2013.[3] Right now, it’s being reviewed by a Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests. Once the Committee submits its report, the government will be eager to present this bill in the Monsoon session of Parliament in August.

There is already a lot of opposition to the bill. On Thursday, August 8, 2013 - thousands of people, organisations and farmers will protest against the BRAI bill at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. You can join hands with them virtually!

This is your chance to make sure that our right to eat safe and healthy food is not taken away by foreign multinational seed corporations.

We've saved our food before,[4] let's do it once again.

Show your support now and have a say in the food you eat.
