See what happened to make this amazing photo!

Hi urvashi,

Yesterday, over a thousand people from Mahan came together to demand that Essar quit Mahan forest. Standing together, they are part of a fast growing coalition that have come together to save Mahan. Their livelihoods depend on the Mahan forest and they are protesting against Essar's plans to chop it down.

With over a million members, Junglistanis like me are known for our strong love for forests. The bigger our numbers and the louder our voices, the greater our chances of getting Essar out of Mahan. Mahan is one of the oldest sal forests and home to endangered animals. We cannot let Essar destroy this!

Veerappa Moily, the environment minister has given the go-ahead to Essar's mining project that will chop down over 5 lakh trees, endanger wildlife and displace thousands of people. This clearance is absolutely illegal because the villagers' signatures were forged to show support for the mining project at a gram sabha held last year [1].

Our friends in Mahan are not backing down. They are standing strong against Essar. Every voice that joins them counts. Junglistan can help make this even bigger so that it cannot be ignored. Mahan has just been given clearance and chopping Mahan down would mean the beginning of the end for all forests in the region. You can help stop this.
