| | | | Hi urvashi,
For years, every morning when I woke up, my first thought was, ‘I need my cup of tea’. But since the last two weeks it’s changed to, ‘I can’t drink that cup of tea’. Why this sudden switch, you ask?
It’s because two weeks ago, I found out that there are banned and unapproved pesticides in tea. Now I know what you might be thinking, ‘What’s the big deal?’ The big deal is that some of these pesticides could potentially cause cancer and brain damage, while the others could lead to reproductive disorders and organ failure.
This is unacceptable because these toxic pesticides cannot become a part of my everyday life. And they cannot become a part of your life either. | | | In just two weeks, thousands of people from all across the country are demanding clean tea. As a result, two of the leading tea companies, Unilever and Girnar have already promised to give us pesticide-free tea. That’s not all. Even the Tea Board of India has invited Greenpeace and the remaining tea companies for a meeting next week.
Believe me, this meeting could not only decide the fate of Indian tea but also Indian agriculture. This is our moment to get our demands heard loud and clear: no more pesticides in our tea!
We need you so that when our campaigners walk into that meeting room next week, they know that they are not alone in this. They know that they are supported by thousands like you. | | | Thanks, Bindu Vaz | | | |
