DATA ANALYSIS COURSE ON STATA IN KARACHI ON (7TH AND 8TH FEBRUARY)
Shaheen Research Group is organizing a 2 Day Hands on STATA workshop on 7th and 8th February, 2015 in Karachi to familiarize the workshop participants with the potential applications of the powerful Statistical Analysis on STATA. The workshop will introduce participants to Practical Data Analysis using the statistical software package STATA.
Objective Of The Training
The workshop will orient you with the fundamentals of SPSS and develop skills of
· Selection of appropriate statistical Tests
· Steps to run the selected Statistical Test
· Interpretation of Results
· Presentation of Results in the Manuscript or Thesis in the standardized format.
Workshop Format
This will be an interactive, but structured training session covering the topics outlined in the programme. The workshop is designed on Task Based Instructional Design. Initially, a task on STATA will be performed by the instructor and later candidates will be facilitated to perform specific task individually, on dataset saved in the candidate hard drive. Each candidate will be provided with a number of datasets and specific tasks to perform.
Target Audience
House Officer, Postgraduate Trainees, Mphil/Phd Scholars, Senior Faculty members from Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Social Sciences, Education and Management. Moreover, Data Managers from NGO's will also find this workshop extremely helpful.
Topics To Be Covered In The Workshop
Day 1
· Study designs and data collection methods
· From variables to datasets
· A cool introduction to STATA with exploration of its capabilities
· Learn to use STATA: windows, commands, do-files, log files.
· Introduction to descriptive statistics
· Basic and intermediate data analysis in STATA
· Plotting and manipulating STATA graphs
· Data cleaning and management
· Import data in different formats into STATA
· Export data in STATA into different formats
· Appending, merging data from different sources
Day 2
· Hypothesis testing, p-values and confidence intervals
· Comparison of Mean (Independent t-test, Paired t-test, One Way ANOVA and Repeated Measure ANOVA)
· Non-parametric tests (Mann Whitney U Test, Wilcoxon Matched pair test, Kruskal Wallis Test and Friedman Test)
· Tests for Association (Chi-square Test and Correlation)
· Regression Analysis (Simple Linear Regression, Multiple Regression Analysis and Binary Logistic Regression)
