MISUSE OF FACILITIES – JPMC issues show-cause notices to 3 employees

KARACHI- Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) administration has suspended three employees (washer men) and issued them show-causes notices on the charges of running a heavy dry cleaning machinery on commercial basis in government quarters allotted to them for residential pupose.

Cases of hepatitis on the rise in Sindh: Dahar

KARACHI- Sindh Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that the government  in view of increasing cases of hepatitis in the province has decided to expand its plan of screening people at union council (UC) level across the province.

Anti-dengue fumigation drive begins

KARACHI- The on-going anti-dengue fumigation campaign launched by Sindh Dengue Prevention and Control Programme was being carried out across the city with about 24 vehicles. The drive was formally inaugurated by Special Secretary (Public Health) Dr Khalid Sheikh.

$11 million sought for AIDS control in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD- A proposal was recently submitted by Pakistan, addressed to "Global Funds", whereby the country has requested for a funding of 11 million USD to carry on with its efforts against HIV/AIDs. On the parallel, the country has requested the UNAIDS, for a grant of 1 million US Dollars, which will be used for conducting a nation-wide study to ascertain the extent of spread of HIV in the country, and what is the exact number of people infected by this fatal disease.

Doctors penalized for negligence by PMDC

ISLAMABAD- Various punishments have been announced by the Pakistani authorities, to penalize the doctors who were found committing different kinds of professional negligence. The new and strict punishments have been implemented by the Disciplinary Committee of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

185 universities operating without approval of HEC

ISLAMABAD- Although the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has repeatedly claimed that it is effectively regulating and improving the performance of the higher education sector in Pakistan, it is quite evident that the regulator is not able to ensure a high level of compliance from the institutions. It was recently reported that the HEC has failed to take action against illegal universities, which continue to function without an official NOC from HEC.
