Greedy doctors

Sir: People go to hospitals and clinics for the treatment of their ailments, but the result is quite the opposite. Instead of getting medicines to improve their health, people actually put their lives at risk after visiting doctors. There is an abundance of fake drug companies that pose a serious threat to the people's health. Sadly, doctors are involved in this heinous crime. They prescribe patients a large quantity of medicines because they receive commissions from drug companies based on the amount of drugs they sell. Greedy doctors are ready to sell their conscience and nothing stops them from committing this crime. They believe that there is no law and no one can stop them from getting extra cash. It is a fact that doctors are paid to advise patients to take unnecessary medicines.

Recently a young boy in Turbat, who was suffering from fever, went to a doctor and the doctor prescribed him a large number of medicines. After taking the tablets, his health worsened and he became critically ill overnight. His poor parents had no other option except to admit their beloved son to a good hospital no matter how much it cost them even if they had to sell their home. He was admitted to Agha Khan Hospital Karachi where it was found that the boy has been given fake drugs. After every possible effort to save his life, the boy died because those drugs had severely damaged his lungs. His parents are in deep grief now. They do not know what to do after losing their young son who was in perfect health just a few days ago. They are without hope because there is no one to help them register a case against the doctor. That doctor is still there and selling the drugs at the cost of innocent people's lives. The government needs to take action against such greedy doctors and ban fake medicine companies that are operating freely.
