CLICK This lecture was important in my book tour, as I used it to position the notion of SWADESHI INDOLOGY and how it differs from Western (Videshi) Indology. The difference is not about the ethnicity of the scholars. In fact, many prominent advocates of videshi perspective are nowadays Indians, because this army of Anglicized desis has been trained and nurtured for the past few decades. At the same time, I know Westerners who espouse a Vedic worldview. Hence, it is a battle between perspetives and not a fight between races, nationalities or ethnicities. The lecture explains who these "insiders" and "outsiders" are, as well as the politics of knowledge production and why it matters. I hope you will watch the lecture including the lively Q&A that follows. Regards, Rajiv |
