The institutional murder of the brilliant research scholar and progressive activist Rohith Chakravarthy Vemula has caused a tremendous unrest amongst the students and youth of the country. Not only students and youth from various universities, educational institutions and cities but also concerned citizens from all over the country have taken to streets demanding justice for Rohith. As we know Rohith was a student activist associated with the Ambedkar Students Association and a research scholar who had committed suicide on January 17.  But Rohith's death is not a suicide but a cold-blooded institutional murder.

Who Killed Rohith?

    Rohith and his friends were active against the Sanghi goons and Fascists in the Hyderabad campus. They openly denounced the acts of awarding capital punishments to all alleged terrorists in the garb of appeasing the collective conscience of the masses, they protetsed against beef ban, they organized a screening of the film 'Muzzafarnagar Baaqi Hai' which exposes the real face of the communal Fascist saffron brigade, they fought against the caste-based oppression by various Brahminical and Fascist forces active in the campus. As a result, Rohith and his friends had become a threat to the Fascist and Brahminical forces in the campus. As a consequence, taking into cognizance a false complaint of an activist of Sanghi Student organization, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya wrote to Human  Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani to take action in this matter. Consequently, a series of five letters were written by the HRD ministry to Hyderabad Central University pressurizing the university adminstration to expel Rohith Vemula and few of his friends. रोहित वेमुला की संस्थानिक हत्या से उपजे कुछ अहम सवाल जिनका जवाब जाति-उन्मूलन के लिए ज़रूरी है!

हैदराबाद विश्वविद्यालय के मेधावी शोधार्थी और प्रगतिशील कार्यकर्ता रोहित चक्रवर्थी वेमुला की संस्थानिक हत्या ने पूरे देश में छात्रों-युवाओं के बीच एक ज़बर्दस्त उथल-पुथल पैदा की है। देश के तमाम विश्वविद्यालयों, शैक्षणिक संस्थानों और शहरों में छात्रों-युवाओं से लेकर आम नागरिक तक रोहित वेमुला के लिए इंसाफ़ की ख़ातिर सड़कों पर उतर रहे हैं। जैसा कि हमें पता है रोहित वेमुला अम्बेडकर छात्र संघ से जुड़े एक छात्र कार्यकर्ता और शोधार्थी थे जिन्होंने 18 जनवरी को आत्महत्या कर ली थी। मगर यह आत्महत्या नहीं एक हत्या थी जिसमें न तो लहू का सुराग मिलता है और न ही हत्यारे का निशान।

रोहित को किसने मारा?

रोहित और उसके साथी हैदराबाद विश्वविद्यालय के कैम्पस में संघी गुण्डों और फ़ासीवादियों के विरुद्ध लगातार सक्रिय थे। उन्होंने जनभावनाओं को तुष्ट किये जाने के नाम पर तमाम तथाकथित आतंकवादियों को फाँसी की सज़ाएँ सुनाने, बीफ़ बैन का विरोध करने, साम्प्रदायिक फासीवादी भगवा गिरोह का पर्दाफ़ाश करने वाली फिल्म 'मुज़फ्फरनगर बाकी है' का प्रदर्शन करने से लेकर जातिवादी उत्पीड़न के विरुद्ध कैम्पस में सक्रिय तमाम उच्चजाति वर्चस्वादी और फासीवादी ताक़तों की लगातार मुख़ालफ़त की थी और वे इन ताक़तों के ख़िलाफ़ एक चुनौती बन गये थे। नतीजतन, संघी छात्र संगठन के एक कार्यकर्ता की झूठी शिकायत का संज्ञान लेते हुए एक केन्द्रीय मन्त्री बण्डारू दत्तात्रेय ने मानव संसाधन मन्त्री स्मृति ईरानी को इस मसले पर कार्रवाई करने के Read the rest of this entry »
