In my recent India trip, I had a very special darshan with the Kanchi Shankaracharyas - both junior and senior. Not only did they give their time generously for our conversations, they also gave permission to bring the camera crew and video tape it - something not done commonly. I invite you to watch this 58 minute video of an event that was special in many ways. The first segment is the darshan. (The first few minutes has low volume audio but its gets ok after several minutes.) Both of the Shankaracharyas are present here. I felt blessed and was treated in a very special way. A great deal more happened that was not recorded on video, including an amazing ritual in which the elephant performed the ritual with the Shankaracharya.
The second part of the video records when the junior Shankaracharya took me to his private room for a personal conversation. As the subtitles show, he is an amazing strategist. I was simply bowled over by his wisdom on practical matters. There is so much for me to learn. He wants us to collaborate on a variety of topics, and I wish I had the resources to be able to take advantage of his offer.
Finally, he gives a hand gesture to the video man to turn off the camera, so that he and I could be in total privacy. This is where a lot got discussed that is confidential. Suffice it to say that we are in total resonance on our views on our dharma's present situation, and aspirations on how to proceed for its future.
Soon after my return to USA, I was approached by the Kanchi Mutt official branch in USA. They had received blessings from the Shankaracharya asking them to invite me to their temple in USA, where they plan to celebrate the 48th birthday of the junior Shankaracharya. I have been asked to be the speaker at the event that will be well attended by their USA followers. It is going to be on March 6. They plan to video tape this and we will post it on Youtube.
As an author, I it is a delight that my latest book has received such great acceptance by so many of our senior acharyas ansd gurus. The Kanchi Shankaracharyas not only blessed and supported "The Battle For Sanskrit" but also plan to distribute it to their scholars (over 100) as important reading material for them.
Please watch and send it around to others. Regards, Rajiv CLICK TO WATCH VIDEO |
