JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) is arguably India's most controversial and politically charged university. Plagued by Marxists, Maoists and anti-India forces for decades, it is recently in the news for clashes by students calling for India's break up. I have been giving lectures at JNU for a decade now, and have gained an insight into its psyche and how to bring some influence there. The following are some examples of my talks there: - Lecture to English honors students on the Indian influences on American literature
- Lecture in philosophy on Western panentheism and how it was developed using Indian thought
- Keynote address at conference of Science and the Indian traditions
- Special seminar debating human rights in the Indian context
- Launch of my earlier book, BEING DIFFERENT.
- etc.
This is why I recently accepted the invite to participate in a distinguished panel to discuss my latest book. The panel consisted of the following speakers: - Prof Upender Rao, Chair of Sanskrit Dept, JNU
- Prof Girish Jha, Former Chair of Sanskrit Dept, JNU
- Koenraad Elst, Indologist
- Dr. Devapriya Roy, scholar of Natya Shastra and best-selling author
- Rajiv Malhotra, author
My lecture was followed by a lively Q&A. JNU has many sides to it and should not be characterized in any sweeping manner. Rather than avoiding it, my approach has been to engage with its students in a constructive manner. As the video shows, one can win over many students who are open minded. I hope you will enjoy this video. Regards, Rajiv CLICK TO WATCH VIDEO |
