Stories for Everyone – stories on Facebook
We would like to invite you to take part in a new project called "From Stories to Books".
The Stories for Everyone Team have been, for some time, gathering and selecting books that provide some sort of reflection on the fundamental ethical principles of
our society, such as solidarity, courage, honesty, respect for differences and a sense of justice, matters that have deserved the attention of writers from various
nationalities.
Therefore, the Stories for Everyone Team proposes to send, together with the usual weekly stories, and also free of charge, full texts of selected books.
In case you are interested in receiving each week, by email, a chapter of an extensive reading book, all you have to do is send an email to
books@storiesforeveryone.com or stories4ev@gmail.com, or reply to this email by writing the following sentence in the subject field:
Hoping that this new proposal will meet your utmost interest, we look forward to your reply.

HOW A TEACHER SAVED MY LIFE
I had been battling an eating disorder for over six months. I don´t know how it all started. Maybe it was when my brother called my skinny body fat, maybe it was when my dad congratulated me for being more muscular than the other girls on my volleyball team, maybe it was watching my mom exercising and dieting all the time. Whatever it was, my eating disorder hit me hard. As I exercised more and more, and ate less and less, pounds melted off me and I felt strong, fit, and fast... until the symptoms began to impair me.
I became chronically cold. I became pale and weak. I was dizzy and light-headed, almost fainting when I stood up. But I loved my new body. Then, one day in May, my geography teacher pulled me out of class. He was funny, kind, and like a father to us all. He shut the door behind me and looked me straight in the eye.
"Are you okay?" he asked. "You haven´t seemed quite right in class."
"Yeah," I lied casually. "Just tired." I feigned a yawn and looked away.
I realized he was staring at me oddly.
"Christine, I don´t know what´s going on with you, but I want you to know that everyone here cares for you. I want you to beat whatever it is you´re going through. We don´t want to lose you. You understand?"
"Y-yeah," I said, awkwardly, before hastily retreating back through the door to my seat.
What was wrong with me? Why was I starving myself? How did he know?

Spring had come to the swamp. A red-spotted newt crawled out from his winter bed in the mud.
"Help!" cried Newt. "I´m stuck!"
A painted turtle yawned greeting the spring. "Coming, dear Newt!" cried Turtle.
Pock! Went the mud as Turtle pulled Newt free. "Thanks. Turtle! You´re the best!"
"That´s what friends are for!" said Turtle.
"Yep," said Newt. His spots turned a deeper red, and he wondered,
There were catfish and dragonflies, cat´s tails and dogwoods, polecats and tadpoles. Turtle took good care of Newt, and Newt and Turtle were happy just to be together. But, sometimes, when Newt sat alone on his thinking rock, he wondered, What can I do for Turtle?
In the summer Newt and Turtle played in their favourite swimming holes. They swooshed down muddy banks and crashed into the water together –splash!
Playing hide-and-seek, Newt climbed on to Turtle´s back.
"Yoo-hoo! Turtle! Where are you?" He thought he was on a rock.
"Boo!" said Turtle, poking his head out.
Newt jumped high into the air.
One day a cottonmouth snake slithered off a branch and whispered through the water.
He was about to strike when Newt heard Turtle´s voice, "Newt! A snake!"
