{Awareness} Turmeric -Method to preserve the natural root

 

Dear Colleagues,

Following  the flyer  on  Turmeric, we have received several requests to post process for making homemade turmeric powder , since commercial brands have added  yellow color which might not be safe ,

Method
1.       Take young roots called Rhizomes ( look like  ginger in appearance , easily available in market)

2.       Wash thoroughly, put in a pan to boil for 45 minutes ( according to Indian institutes of spice and agriculture research).

3.     use the dark yellow water left after boiling for cooking purpose .

3.     Cut roots into small pieces before drying

4.     Sun drying might take 10-15 days , but do not put in direct sunlight as it might loss its bright yellow color , can use oven drying , do not use microwave .

5.    Once dried grind in spice grinder .
