Match

Dear URVASHI,

We finally won the World Cup! While this match came to a delightful end, the fate of another one still seems to be undecided. I am talking about the coal versus forest match.

Make a contribution to save India's forests and get an environment defender t-shirt.
The coal ministry wants to mine coal in the last remaining forests in the country.[1] They will not accept any forest land to be a No Go region for mining. These forests support communities and wildlife. A Group of Ministers (GoM) is going to decide if these forests are more important than coal.[2]

Coal has more supporters than forests in the GoM. To help strengthen the case of forests, Greenpeace is gathering scientific evidence about the kind of biodiversity that exists in the area and loss that would happen because of mining. This research is crucial and financial support from you will help make it possible.

You should make a contribution to help save India's forests and get an environment defender t-shirt.

To maintain its financial independence, Greenpeace does not take money from the government and corporates. The contribution comes from individuals like you.

There are clean and sustainable ways of generating energy without having to destroy the last remaining forests.[3] Mining coal in these forests will destroy them, displace wildlife and communities and contaminate nearby rivers and water resources.[4]

Make a contribution now to help keep our forests safe and get an environment defender t-shirt.

Thanks a billion!
