Dear Friends,
I'm sure that 'civil society' in India being what it is, has many voices on any issue.
The movement to 'demolish' corruption is vital & timely.
All such mass movements, like the freedom struggle led by
Gandhi, require one central, selfless, widely admired icon
PLUS sub-icons for wider respectability, nay credibility.
It will be interesting to know who these respective candidates
are of each civil society segment/splinter in India to 'substitute'
Anna & the current sub-icons who are supporting him.
Can they attract youth as Anna has done? Not just the old.
Do they have the courage of their 'convictions'. Can they fast unto death?
Incidentally, Hegde was misquoted. He supports Anna's campaign 200%.
I'm very keen to know who are the 'Anna substitute' candidates of the various civil society splinters in India. With the vast majority of our 1.21billion qualifying as civil, I'm hoping we can spot millions of iconic Anna substitutes plus sub-icons. (How come with such a multiplicity of potentially iconic leaders from our great civil society, the country has been going to the dogs for 65 years since Independance?!)
Cheers!
